| About Susan Susan's yoga journey began more than 10 years ago right here in Sammamish at the Pine Lake Club. Susan still teaches there today. After several years of practice, Susan found that yoga had such a profound impact on her life - physically, emotionally and spiritually - she decided to share it with others.
Susan chose to deepen her yoga connection by becoming a teacher. She received her training from Aadil Pakhivala, a senior certified Iyengar yoga teacher at the Purna College of Bellevue, which he cofounded with his wife, Mirra. Aadil is a world renowned "teacher of teachers". Susan then apprenticed for a year with Matt Queen, a longtime student of Pakhivala and cofounder of the Yoga Shala in North Bend. Susan has over 300hrs of teacher training. Recently completeing the 60hr Therapeutic Teacher Training at the Purna College of Yoga in August 2009.
Susan practices the Iyengar style of yoga. Iyengar yoga emphasizes correct alignment in all its poses and, through the use of props such as blocks and straps, it is an accessible and beneficial form of yoga for all people, regardless of body type or level of physical fitness.
Susan has taught Iyengar yoga at the Pine Lake Club for more than five years and children's yoga at a local preschool for more than five. In 2008, with a desire to bring a more intimate yoga space to Sammamish, she opened Plateau Yoga at her home.
